Why am I’m choosing to show up(Youtube, social media, and as of recently, a blog) now?
Trust me, I’ve asked myself the same question.
I’m in the middle of my birthing years, our two boys are at home with me, my husband just started a new job, were planning on moving into a home at the end of the year… so why am I choosing to show up on the internet now?
Here’s my honest answer, one that I’ve been reflecting on for years:
I feel called to share what I’m learning as a woman of faith walking through the 21st century, raising children, preparing meals, working at marriage, caring for our home, and ultimately handling a level of stress that no generation has seen at this age. I’m not an expert, I have zero certifications, not to mention, my grammar is subpar.
But here I am. I’m showing up in the good times, the difficult times and the confusing times to remind women that:
- The present moment is the most precious
- There’s a devious plan to redirect us from our calling as mothers
- Slowing down and working hard is possible
- Withholdings are redirections, not losses
- Homemaking is our spiritual gift, whether you believe or not
- Less is more
- Candles(non-toxic ones) make everything better
- God is faithful always
I’m while crying writing this. I may or may not be listening to If Only by Andrea Bocelli, but nonetheless, I’m feeling deeply as there is much we’re up against. I truly believe we’re being called to fight against worldliness that has slowly crept into all of our homes and hearts, mine included. Like I said earlier, at this point in my life, it doesn’t make sense to show up and fight. It’s uncomfortable, I question it, my insecurities are being revealed, my energy is precious and limited, but I just can’t find it in me to ignore this opportunity. When God wants us to grow, he makes us uncomfortable. So, here I am.
Lord, guide me, challenge me, withhold from me, and direct my path as I encourage other women. The days are long and the enemy is fierce, but you are stronger. Speak through me as I support and encourage women looking for a life full of purpose, joy and light in a culture that wants darkness to prevail.
